Family Vacation

I'm back to the blogging world again and just getting around to posting our family trip back East in June. We spent a few weeks in New York seeing Jeff's family, touring the city then touring through New England to Boston, Concord etc.. then heading up north to church history sites and Rochester, finishing with Niagara Falls. It was a wonderful trip, good memory making trip and very nice weather, I think we missed the humidity- yeah!
We took advantage of family nights beforehand to learn more about church history, Joseph Smith and our country's history and leaders. Highly recommend HBO Films: John Adams -on dvd. It made the trip so much more memorable. Highlights were the Sacred Grove Taking Jacob's 8yr portraits and some of Elise's seniors, shopping in the city, Lion King, eating out in Scarsdale with Jeff and Julianne, playing with their kids, waffles, BBQ at Jeff's with Matt, Tracy and family who just relocated from Germany. Boston Freedom Trail (very exciting) Concord sites, and Five Guys.

Five Guys Store #1 Henrietta (Rochester) NY

Store #2 in Webster (Rochester NY area)

Store #3 in Pittsford NY (opening Aug 09)

Store #1- Rochester (Henrietta Store) NY

We are in business with Lynn's brothers Steve and Alan and partners opening FiveGuys in Upstate NY. Lynn fulfilled his fantasy of working fast food during the lunch rush. He was having way too much fun. Elise is asking to see "management" to complain because Uncle Steve forgot her side of mayo so she could make her own fry sauce. :) FiveGuys Utah serve fry sauce, but not upstate NY. Steve is taking Ashley's order.

Jacob earning his "keep"

Jacob at FiveGuys working with cousins Sydney and Morgan. They took out trash, set up chairs and then got to cook their own burger. Jacob tried every kind of soda during our stay- to my horror....

This was the most amazing place, 5 hrs of running around amazing interactive worlds and hands on everything! They even had a Wegman's Grocery Store, a kid's fantasy with real checkout stands that scanned and printed actual reciepts.

Palmyra-- Smith Homes

The first picture is the replica of Joseph's bedroom, the other indoor shots are from the later Smith home Alvin built before he died. The actual hearth is pictured where Joseph hid the plates as the mobs were coming. The last picture is the path that leads from the grove to their home.
