Jacob's Baptism/Eight Year Potraits

We took Jacob's Baptism Portraits in the Sacred Grove during our family vacation. I still need to post our trip pics sometime.... when I have time... But it was a wonderful experience and nice timing to snap a few of Jacob since we were there right after his baptism. The last pic was taken in Central Park.

Ice Cream Man

Jacob has a sixth sense for the music of the ice cream truck. When he heard him coming down our street he started running around to find money for ice cream. Cyrena had no idea what he was hyperventilating about and starting running around in circles, yelling "Jacob, what? what? what? She was hyperventilating right along with him. It was hilarious! She was very excited to realize she was getting ice cream!

SleepOver!

While Aunt Jenna was still here for the baptism and before we left on vacation they had a sleepover! The next day Jenna took Jacob (with some serious bed head) and Cyrena on a hike in Grandma and Grandpa's "wilderness" up the mountain behind their house. Cyrena is using gps to find the way :) She likes maps! Or, maybe she just like being in charge? Jacob really has a ball with her. She entertains us all. Jenna- I'm so using all your pictures here, I hope you don't mind? I swiped them from your blog!!

Baptism Day

Jacob was baptized by his father May 30th 2009. These past eight years seem to have flown by. It's hard to believe our little man is eight already. It was a beautiful day. My sister Jenna flew in from Arizona with her girls and surprised us for the baptism. It was so wonderful to see her and her girls. I still can't believe they came. We were totally surprised!!
One of my responsibilities serving in stake primary is to participate in our stake baptisms. I greet the children, give them each a special letter from the stake presidency and then lead the music for both sessions.
What first I thought of as a three hour time commitment on a Saturday has turned into one of the most special experiences of my life. I have always said there is a unique spirit in primary and it is really an honor to be at those baptisms every month, see the children as they prepare to make their first important covenant with the Lord, listen to the talks and music and appreciate the quiet to reflect on my own covenants.
This day was especially touching to see Jacob prepared and ready to enter the waters of baptism. I made a promise eight years ago, that I would give him two hugs and two kisses when he was baptized. One from me, and the other from another very special person. That was indeed a poignant moment when I reflected on how this boy has blessed our lives by becoming a part of our family. I realized those blessings even more as we took our family picture afterward in front of the temple where he was sealed to our family forever.

Baptism Brunch

End of another school year

The end of the school year brought many fun activities including the AF High Orchestra final concert, which was amazing! We also had Jacob's dance festival and field day--great way to end the year! Jacob's class performed to the song "Thriller" --of which Jacob thought he needed to "school" me in because he was sure I couldn't possibly know about Thriller and accompanying dance moves. I said I knew it, and he said, "well I'm sure you haven't seen the movie (aka music video) I told him that song was played on one of my first dates with his dad and the "movie" was shown as well.... Then he asked me where Michael Jackson is now.... Uhh... mmm... any suggestions?
